    CMA Awards

Yesterday, Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert were in New York to announce the CMA Awards nominees in the five remaining categories on ABC's Good Morning America. Miranda led the list of finalists with nine nominations - the most for any female artist in the history of the CMA Awards. Alan Jackson received ten nominations in 2002. Prior to that, Merle Haggard held the record with nine in 1970.

Miranda can't get over the fact that she has earned as many CMA Award nominations as her musical idol did during one of the biggest years of his career

"I think my favorite part about the whole thing is that I've set the record, I've tied with my hero, my ultimate hero, [who] is Merle Haggard for nine nominations in the history of the CMAs. That's just so fitting for me, and I'm hoping that sets my career up for one as long as Merle Haggard's, because it's a huge deal."

Lady Antebellum garnered the second highest number of CMA award nominations with five. Zac Brown Band and Blake Shelton tied with four nods each, with Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley capturing three apiece.
