Halfway to Hazard signed to
Mercury Nashville in 2006, and released their eponymous first album just a year later. Steadfast country with a tall shot of rock, the duo’s first album (co-produced by
Tim McGraw) exploded into the country scene with 11 tracks of catchy, countrified rock n’ roll. From the slow lament of
"Daisy" to the heavy guitar chords and furious drumming of
"Countrified", Halfway to Hazard’s freshman album has done nothing but impress. Currently, the powerful pair is lighting up stages on tour with Tim McGraw throughout the better half of 2008.
From Lastfm:Halfway to Hazard is the country duo, made up of Chad Warrix and David Tolliver, from Hazard, Kentucky. Though Warrix and Tolliver were from different towns in southeastern Kentucky, their band's origins are in Hazard. The name of their band comes from their hometowns, Hazard being the halfway point between their homes.
The H2H boys also host a benefit near their hometowns for a local charity, the Buckhorn Children's Center. The benefit, which is held in Crockettsville, Kentucky, is called the Halfway to Hazard Annual Charity Trail Ride. The Trail Ride actually consists of a concert on Saturday and a dirt bike/ATV ride through a trail system on Sunday. At the Second Annual Trail Ride, in 2009, Tim McGraw, Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley, Keith Anderson, and, of course, Halfway to Hazard were some of the performers for the concert on Saturday. Over $200,000 was raised by the more than 25,000 that attended.
As of 1/19/2010, it was announced David would be taking some personal time off from the duo and all performances/appearances were indefinitely postponed. It is not known what the future of H2H will be, though Chad assured fans on his Facebook page that he and David will reevaluate things in a few months and see where they stand.
